Long overdue updates

Okay, here’s a rundown on what I’ve been up to these past 6 months.  In March I accepted a transfer to the Garden Valley Helitack crew on the Boise NF, and started there in the middle of April.  It’s been a good move so far, as it gets me back onto a fire crew, and will hopefully get me the fire experience I was lacking in Alaska.

Alaska was great – I got an incredible amount of experience there in the two years I worked on the Tongass NF, but I really needed to get out of Ketchikan.  I loved the job, but I really can’t say as I liked the town.  There are things I already miss about living and working there, but there are a lot more I’m really enjoying about living back in the lower 48.

So, a short update, but more will follow as fire season kicks up and I get busy.
